Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common endocrine diseases. Due to its complications, it caused significant mortality. Insulin and oral antidiabetic drugs were associated with many side effects. The search for more effective safer hypoglycemic agents important areas investigation. pharmacological investigations revealed that several medicinal plants showed effects by mechanisms. current review highlighted effect.

Hypoglycemic Effect of a Few Medicinal Plants
Indigenous plants such as Ocimum Sancium, Aegle marmelos, Azadiracta indica, and Murraya koenigii decreased the blood sugar of streptozotocin diabetic rabbits. The most effective drug Aegle marmelos in different solvents showed different rate of hypoglycemic action. On feeding streptozotocin to diabetic rabbits for a period of 3 months aegle marmelos showed remarkable hypoglycemic action.
